The Chief of Staff

The COS reports directly to the CEO and plays a central role in helping the CEO and his executive leadership team (ELT) maintain a proactive posture in managing the complexity of external and internal engagements. This is a position of trust in which high degrees of personal maturity, professionalism, integrity, sensitivity, and diplomacy are prerequisites for success.

Your Responsibilities

  • Project Management for the Executive Office: Ensure efficiency of the CEO by proposing and optimizing engagement agendas between CEO, executive leadership team, and external stakeholders. Amplify the CEO's effectiveness by facilitating reporting on key programs across the organization, coordinating preparation and ensuring quality of content for decision-making and critical business meetings. Manage important projects by identifying optimization potentials and implementing necessary changes.
  • Strategic Advisory and Support: Act as a strategic advisor to the CEO, participating in strategic planning, policy development, and decision-making processes. Represent the CEO in meetings, emails, and phone calls with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring consistent communication and timely decision-making. Draft correspondence on behalf of the CEO and support him in meetings covering technical projects and issues.
  • Communication and Coordination: Serve as the interface between management and operational departments. Prepare comprehensive presentations and briefing documents at the management level, and communicate management messages to specific target groups within the organization. Main liaison between the CEO and various stakeholders.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor key performance indicators and derive necessary measures to ensure the effective completion of CEO-led projects and initiatives. Create and maintain systems and processes to streamline operations, and maintain accurate confidential files and data records. Provide the CEO with essential insights for informed decision-making through comprehensive reporting.

Your Qualifications

  • Completed MBA or PhD studies in technical physics, electrical engineering, mechatronics, mechanical engineering, or industrial engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional work experience at the management level.
  • Knowledge and experience in the industry and in-depth knowledge of physics.
  • Excellent project management and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in German and English; ability to communicate clearly and confidently with native speakers.
  • Ability to listen openly and actively, with strategic and analytical thinking as well as solution-focused thinking.
  • Experience in organizing and directing multiple teams and departments is an advantage.
  • Strong team player skills, including intercultural competency, emotional intelligence, and diplomacy to navigate tense situations and resolve conflicts.
