The Role

The Chief of Staff (CoS) for the VP Enterprise Project Management Office at Lumen is a strategic role to enable the execution of our projects and programs and to help shape strategic initiatives through thought leadership, communication, and flexibility. This role is stepping-stone into more senior roles at Lumen for strategic or P&L ownership roles.

Thought partnership to the Enterprise leadership team by providing KPIs that directly support the organization’s strategic mission and interpreting the data to help shape strategic initiatives. Since the CoS will also communicate and delegate initiatives to teams,  will support senior leaders’ key decisions by ensuring plans are feasible and can be implemented accordingly throughout the rest of the organization. This individual will also help the VP identify the areas where they must direct their focus and help streamline activities.

Communication to ensure strategic initiatives get further communicated into the Enterprise teams. It’s the strategic chief of staff’s responsibility to keep these initiatives on track by adequately communicating the plan and outcome to the entire organization.

Flexibility to tackle varying types of responsibility and challenges depending on the constantly evolving of Lumen PMO journey and ensuring execution of its priorities. This can range from supporting Board document preparation to leading the execution of select initiatives, including partnering closely with the Executive Assistant to strategically manage the leader’s time and help determine fit with the priorities.

In conclusion, this role is both strategic and critical to the systematic operating function of the Lumen Enterprise Strategy and PMO leadership team and will handle day-to-day activities to allow the VP to focus on our business.

Location

This is a fully-remote position. Lumen will ship and provide all equipment necessary for the role.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Be a thought partner to the VP and help drive execution across the organization
  • Define and execute direct and extended staff meeting agendas.  This includes cadence of town halls, all hands meetings, management meetings, 1 on 1 reviews, and operation reviews.
  • Ensure Executive is thoroughly prepared for all external and large internal meetings; manage necessary prep calls, ensure prep information is consolidated into a digestible format, etc.
  • Partner with HR on people planning (work force planning, location strategy, org structure management, and people metrics)
  • Coordinate and manage organizational goals & objectives
  • Coordinate employee recognition and culture efforts in partnership with HR
  • Partner cross functionally to improve the employee experience
  • Manage internal communications strategy (intra-org and on behalf of the org – partnering with the Communications team)
  • Prepare Executive and External presentations (e.g., Board meetings) through coordination with stakeholders (incl. maintaining presentation up to date)
  • Partner with Executive Assistant to coordinate Executive’s time aligned to internal and external priorities
  • Facilitate cross functional priorities

Required Qualifications

What We Look For in a Candidate

  • The ideal candidate will have 8-10 years of relevant experience and 3+ years’ experience at manager level
  • Bachelors or equivalent degree in technology related field
  • Proven track record of success in an operational role where executive priorities are translated into actionable plans that can be tracked.
  • Executive presence and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to navigate complex stakeholder management situations
  • Attention to detail across a broad range of contexts and topics
  • Advanced PowerPoint, Excel and Word skills
  • Experience with Business Operations and Planning and Business Transformation

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or advanced relevant degree
  • 3+ years of experience with top tier management consulting firms
  • International experience working with telecom operators

Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.

$128,310 - $171,080 in these states: AR ID KY LA ME MS NE SC SD

$135,060 - $180,080 in these states: AL AZ FL GA IA IN KS MO MT ND NM OH OK PA TN UT VT WI WV WY

$141,820 - $189,090 in these states: CO HI MI MN NC NH NV OR RI

$148,570 - $198,090 in these states: AK CA CT DC DE IL MA MD NJ NY TX VA WA

As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
