Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 15 years of experience in management consulting, product management, engineering, general management or operations roles, building relationships and leading operational initiatives.
- Experience leading a strategy or operations organization.
- Experience working with engineering or product teams.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience as a product or program manager in a technical organization.
- Experience motivating others to act by creating a shared sense of vision and inspiring others to follow while developing and fostering a high performance culture.
- Experience working in a customer-facing organization or driving platform and technology changes across a company.
- Ability to create a compelling vision for the future, and communicate clearly, confidently, and authentically.
- Ability to get things done and to show courage by admitting failure, making tough calls, and moving forward despite complexity and ambiguity.
- Technical acumen.

Core Developer is seeking a Director of Strategy and Operations and Chief of Staff for the Core Developer organization. Reporting directly to the Vice President and General Manager of Core Developer, you will lead the strategy and operations of one of Google’s most cross-functional businesses throughout its next phase of transformation. In this role, you will influence the strategy and operations for this organization which drives the developer experience for internal Google developers.
As the Chief of Staff to the VP of Core Developer, you will also act as a trusted advisor and in some instances be called upon to act as a proxy for the VP.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $261,000-$374,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Build and enable execution of multi-year strategy and narrative for the Core Developer organization.
- Lead all strategy and business operations, including processes, frameworks and tools for running Core Developer’s day-to-day planning cycles, annual and quarterly objective setting, review cycles, headcount planning, etc.
- Build high-quality, influential artifacts (decks, docs, sheets, videos) that are reusable components for influencing and communication progress, obstacles, and opportunities for strategy.
- Drive change in business operations for the global organization including decision-making effectiveness, streamlining product and engineering reviews, and resource planning and allocation.
- Manage a Strategy and Operations team and Chiefs of Staff, influence across peer Strategy and Operations teams within Developer, Core, and Google.
