Job Description Summary:

The Chief of Staff role is a member of the Global Product Solutions (GPS) team within the Enterprise & Merchant Platforms (EMP) organization. GPS is a newly formed team responsible for accelerating product deployment and adaptation in markets outside of the US. The GPS team will ensure that product experiences meet the market-level customer needs, standards, and expectations. This includes localizing global products and delivering market-level capabilities to support segment strategies and cross-market prioritization. GPS is a global team located within each of the key regions in support of all PayPal BUs. The Chief of Staff will be part of the broader EMP operations team, which is responsible for maturing the EMP team operating model, leading key initiatives, overseeing timely high-quality product delivery, partnering with corporate strategy to advance the long-term outlook, and driving healthy collaboration with the other CEO Staff organizations. The team works closely with various internal stakeholders including other Product domain leads, Sales, Customer Support, and Engineering across markets and customer segments.

Job Description:

The Chief of Staff’s Day-to-Day:

The Chief of Staff role is a highly visible leadership position in the team that works very closely with the SVP of Global Product Solutions and will be a trusted advisor to the leadership team. The day-to-day work includes facilitating leadership forums, developing strategy execution plans, refining organizational routines, overseeing critical initiatives, and authoring leadership communications. Most importantly, the role contributes to problem solving the business’s most critical issues and opportunities. The role is an individual contributor role and will have to lead and influence countless employees throughout the organization. Additional duties include:

  • Act as a thought partner for the team’s SVP and Checkout product leadership team
  • Develop materials to facilitate product performance-tracking forums (e.g., OKRs, KPIs) with cross-functional and cross-regional teams
  • Collaborate closely with Finance, Corporate Strategy, and other key cross-functional leaders to optimize economic performance and drive execution phase of strategic projects
  • Create, implement, and drive operating rhythms, relevant artifacts, and team events to enable better communications and engagement up down and across functions & teams; optimize cadences, drive agenda and prep for internal team rhythms, management/executive reviews
  • Support the organization's overall financial budget (expense, FTE, etc.)
  • Mature and standardize the way the organization communicates across PayPal
  • Identify and execute organizational efficiency opportunities
  • Comply with and positively influence standards set by CEO Staff
  • Drive strong organizational morale and engagement

What you bring:

We are seeking a candidate with a strong business orientation, who is self-motivated and able to act with a high level of independence. He or she must be entrepreneurial, comfortable with ambiguity, able to tackle complex business problems, and have the ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical teams.

  • 6+ years of strong consulting, operations, product, or strategy experience preferred
  • Industry expertise in payments and / or technology preferred
  • Ability to articulate and manage OKRs and KPIs using metrics to drive performance and provide data in support of key decisions
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a history of hands-on, detail-oriented work
  • Strong communication, listening, and negotiation skills; able to convey important messages in a clear and compelling manner and translate complex technical matters into terms understood by business professionals
  • Sharp business judgment, ability to see "big picture" and to prioritize
  • Ability to manage change and ambiguity with an action-orientation/drive – must thrive in a dynamic environment
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to travel 1-2x per quarter

The U.S. national annual pay range for this role is $107300 to $259600
