Position: Chief of Staff

Reporting to: Co-Founder & CEO

Location: NYC (hybrid; 4x/week)

They have experienced rapid growth over the past year and are looking for fellow self-starters and go-getters to join their team.

Position Overview:

In this role, you will be the right hand to the CEO and work with him on strategic and operational activities. You will serve as a force-multiplier to the CEO, as a trusted advisor and progress-facilitator, ensuring cohesion within communication, process, and the executive team on a wide variety of tasks, projects, and strategies.

Your responsibilities will be to ensure projects are executed on time and efficiently, and if not, you'll be expected to roll up your sleeves and dive in. Projects will change as the organization evolves. This will be a rewarding, intense, high-growth, and demanding role exposing you to all aspects of their brand.

Examples of projects can be a variety of functions. It can include:

  • Develop go-to-market acquisition plan for new product expansion initiatives including a profitability analysis
  • Build an internal process for creating ads
  • Oversee product ordering to ensure they avoid overstocking inventory and running out of stock on high-velocity items
  • Optimize remote work processes

This is a full-time position Monday through Friday (9am-6pm) that will require 4 days of the week to be spent at their NYC midtown office. They look for you to hit the ground running from day one.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive cross-functional, company-wide projects by providing analytical rigor to projects, facilitating collaboration with multiple brand and business units, and strategically managing project scope and implementation
  • Develop materials for company board meetings, special projects, press conversations, external conferences
  • Spearhead and manage recruiting directly for key roles - even if it involves getting your hands dirty
  • Review current collaboration processes and identify how to streamline both in-person and remote work
  • Drive internal and external communications, including investor updates, strategic industry updates, and company-wide communications
  • Facilitate weekly executive meetings and quarterly strategy meetings, ensuring accountability and helping drive implementation as thought partner and ear to the ground for CEO; surface issues, roadblocks, and concerns from the org and drive alignment and buy-in for executive projects and priorities
  • Ensure that the CEO is properly briefed on strategic calendar events
  • Identify issues that impact the successful execution of plans, including elevating issues of which the CEO, and/or the Executive Leadership Team should be aware, and framing ideas to solve the problem/mitigate the risk
  • Lead or co-lead projects on behalf of CEO
  • Identify opportunities with no natural home within organization and own cross-functional effort to execute with direct approval from CEO

Examples of projects that you may assist in overseeing:

  • Build their made-to-order product category (including a new web experience)
  • Build an internal process for creating ads
  • Oversee their CX team and ensure staffing is efficient. Roll out new AI tools to automate responses to tickets
  • Improve their process for handling returns
  • Make decisions about which markets to ship to and what their shipping rates would be
  • Build an analytics tool that properly calculates per-order margin
  • Oversee product ordering to ensure they minimize cash tied up

Qualifications:

  • 4–6 years of project management, management consulting, corporate strategy, or in a high-growth company at a leadership level including experience with a focus on agile project management frameworks and systems (SCRUM, OKRs, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s or MBA degree
  • Proficient with advanced Microsoft Excel Skills
  • Must have high analytical skills, be able to see patterns (systems thinker), be a strategic decision maker
  • Ability to problem solve, motivate others and drive the process
  • Strong bias for action and a sense of urgency. Self-starter with a strong ability to anticipate needs prior to them being communicated
  • Enjoys working with a wide variety of people and personalities
  • Humble, with strong listening skills
  • Experience using project management tools (Monday, Airable, Coda, Notion, etc.)
  • You're open-minded. To learning new things, being around new people, mentorship, feedback, and learning and growing in your role
  • You have passion. Maybe you're an amateur pinball player, a writer, a car enthusiast, a side hustler. You know what it's like to be a go-getter and you embrace it
  • You have a sense of humor. You know life's too short to take yourself too seriously.

What They Offer:

Our client is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Salary ranges are determined through alignment with market data. Base salary offered is determined by a number of factors including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and skills. This role may also be eligible for bonus compensation and employee benefits. - NYC Base Salary Range: $100,000- $180,000 USD
