Job Description

The Chief of Staff will report to the Chief Executive Officer and be responsible for managing a portfolio of critical initiatives and projects to further Axim’s mission. They will be responsible for planning and executing a broad range of activities which could include managing and supporting executive level initiatives or leading longer-term strategic projects. The successful candidate will be comfortable collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders both internal and external to Axim.

This role will require regular in-person work in our Cambridge office, so candidates must be able to commute in at least two days per week.

Core Responsibilities:

Chief of Staff

  • Serve as Chief of Staff to the CEO providing a range of support involving senior stakeholders and key initiatives
  • Support partner engagement and convening activities in collaboration with senior team
  • Conduct research on potential opportunities and connections
  • Draft communications to stakeholders
  • Support planning for board and staff retreats
  • Provide support in planning and executing CEO’s external engagements

Special Projects Management

  • Responsible for managing a portfolio of special projects from planning through execution
  • Identify key stakeholders for engagement depending on the project and set up mechanisms for collaboration and engagement
  • Develop strong plans and timelines to ensure projects stay on track
  • Develop communication mechanisms for various projects, including emails, decks and written summaries

Essential Qualifications:

  • Deep commitment to equity, and experience applying an equity lens in all strategies and work streams
  • Minimum of 4-7 years experience with demonstrated success managing projects in fields such as social enterprise, philanthropy, and higher education
  • Strong project management, prioritization, and planning skills, with demonstrated success producing high-quality deliverables on time
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Experience developing decks and memos to communicate strategy
