Job Summary

You will report to the CEO and will be a crucial part of the real estate team. The company develops and acquires properties either directly or through major real estate operating partners throughout the United States. WLG has been actively investing since 2003 and is managing a diverse investment portfolio. WLG's permanent capital base allows us to take a disciplined, long-term investment perspective. Short-term performance, while important, is not given priority over WLG's longer-term investment horizon and objectives.

You are expected to serve as the Integrator within the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) and will have 5 to 6 department manager direct reports.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Strategy

  • Provide leadership in real estate acquisition, development, and portfolio expansion.
  • Plan and direct all aspects of the Real Estate organization's strategy, objectives, initiatives, and policies.
  • Lead the organization towards becoming a "Best in Class" company in all areas.
  • Scale the enterprise 10x over the next 10 years.
  • Oversee joint venture relationships, ensuring partner performance aligns with agreements and investment expectations.
  • Act as the ambassador of company culture, fostering a customer service ethos and cross-functional collaboration.

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure the company has proper operational controls, procedures, and highly trained professionals.
  • Review and approve property-level portfolio operating budgets.
  • Oversee investment due diligence, identifying risks and implementing mitigation plans.
  • Oversee all aspects of ground-up development strategy, ensuring proper systems are in place to mitigate risks.
  • Conduct budget reviews and prepare a consolidated operating budget for CEO review.
  • Meet frequently with department managers to lead, manage, and hold accountable.

Communication and Coordination

  • Act as the primary liaison between the CEO and department managers, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization to ensure understanding and buy-in for strategic initiatives.
  • Provide seamless integration and coordination of efforts among departments, programs, and services.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years' experience as a high-level real estate executive with emphasis on development, acquisition, and asset management.

• MBA or equivalent preferred.

• Proven experience in managing multiple residential properties and securing debt financing for portfolio properties.

• Strong real estate financial management experience, preferably in multi-family.

• Experience managing all aspects of a high achieving real estate investment organization.
